August 2009

Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your responses in the guestbook! I can’t thank you enough, nor can I express how much your comments mean to me. All of them were very sweet, and I could feel the excitement bubble up in my stomach whenever I saw a new one. The added excitement is probably due to the fact that my last post was exclusively about my writing, and while I adore acting, writing is my passion, the activity I must do on a regular basis to prevent myself from going crazy. I just recently had to take two days off from writing, and let’s just say it wasn’t pretty. I was snapping at the poor people around me and sort of rocking in a figurative corner. To make it worse, we were out of chocolate milk, which never fails to improve my mood.

Anyway, back to your fantastic responses. I write every night, and sometimes right before I would check the guestbook for any responses. If there were new ones, it would give me a boost, a surge of confidence, and I was able to start writing with a smile on my face. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support.

Now, about the book(s). The truth is that I’ve already completed a full book–I just completed the third draft a few weeks ago (editing’s a bitch, excuse the term). I got the idea for the book in September of 2007 and started actually writing it in December of the same year. I didn’t finish the first draft until May 1, 2009. Since I’ve gotten into the habit of writing every day, a first draft is never going to take that long again. Now that the book is in a condition that I’m satisfied with enough to show to publishers (read: one that isn’t a completely steaming pile of crap), my mom and I are working to get me a literary agent. I’m very, very lucky to already be in the public eye, because I think that might boost my chances of me (and more importantly, the book) getting noticed by agents and publishers. The fact that a bunch of you said you would read my novel if I published it (you guys are at such a level of awesome that it’s indescribable) might be an incentive for them as well.

As for what the novel’s about, that’s a difficult question for me to answer. It’s about so many different things that it’s hard to decide what to reveal and what to keep under wraps. It’s actually meant to be part of a four book series–I’m writing the second book right now, and about seventy or eighty pages in. Let me check MS Word…yes, I’m on page eighty. Hm. I suppose all I’ll say is that it centers around four teenagers (whom I love to bits) and it involves fantasy. I didn’t want to make it one of those fantasies with elves, dragons, sorcerers, dwarves, or people who travel across the desert to trade their meat for gold doubloons. It’s more modern than that. Instead of doing things like that, they’ll, you know, go out and get cappucinos or something (though I promise, the story gets more exciting than that). I’ll keep my lips sealed on the rest for now, but I do hope what I’ve said sounds interesting.

Once again, thank you so much for your wonderful responses. For those of you who haven’t responded yet and would like to, feel free to follow the link in the post below and answer. Thank you so much!

Okay, so most of you know that I love to write (that’d be an understatement, since it’s become more of an addiction/necessity of life than a hobby ). So, for all of you who read this journal, I’m wondering something. If I were to publish a book, would you want to read it? Please feel free to respond to this in my guestbook. Thanks in advance, and it would really mean a lot if you answered! Hope you’re all doing well!
